Established in 1877 as a brick maker and joinery manufacturer, H&B member Alty‘s are now a leading supplier of building supplies in the Northwest of England.

They have over 140 years of experience in the building industry and a wealth of specialist knowledge, with many of their staff working in the trade their entire working life.

With two branches (Hoole and Chorley), Alty’s were looking to replace their previous system — a widely used system within the merchant community. They approached Blue Rock to assist with their plans for growth and passion for outstanding customer service, and to improve efficiency throughout the business.

Simon Barber, Sales Manager at Blue Rock, explained:

“Altys had been on our radar for many years ahead of them moving their 18 users onto the iQ system with us. The lack of integrated accounts in their old system was always holding them back and we knew we could help. “

Since the installation in the first quarter of 2020, Alty’s have reaped the benefits of their new ERP software solution, seeing a huge increase in turnover from last year.

Managing Director Steve Gautrey told us:

“The amount of administration time and costs saved since Blue Rock installed Intact iQ for us is unbelievable. We’ve completely done away with the multitude of Excel spreadsheets we were continually updating, our management accounts are all integrated, and updating prices is a piece of cake.”

Simon added:

“To see how successful the iQ system has been and how many advantages they are now gaining from it is extremely pleasing to see.”

Once they were up and running with Intact iQ, and seeing the positive rewards it brought to the business, they decided to use Blue Commerce to integrate iQ with their website, a project which will go live very soon.

Blue Commerce integrates Alty’s back-office system data with their customer facing website — orders can be created, stock levels can be checked and special prices can all be updated without any hassle, which ensures their customers always have the latest information as and when it is updated.
