Does the thought of returning to work each week fill you with dread? You’re not alone.

A recent survey showed that a whopping 47% of UK employees were looking for a new role at the end of 2022, with job searches even higher in January - the busiest day falling in the first week of the month.

Is the grass greener on the other side?

If you’re looking for a new role in 2023, it’s important to be sure of your reasons for leaving, to be able to compare and contrast with those advertised.

Although your reason could include relocation, remote working or company culture, we’ve found that the common denominator (maybe unsurprisingly) is lack of salary increase. With the cost-of-living crisis in full swing, it’s no wonder 43% of employees in the ERP industry have been looking for permanent roles with a higher salary.

But is the grass greener on the other side?

Mostly, yes!

73% of candidates saw a salary increase after moving jobs, with almost half reporting receiving perks such as an annual bonus, flexible working hours and locations.

The time is now

January and February are generally the strongest hiring months of the year, with new budgets agreed, and additional staff needed to carry out new projects and initiatives.

Now is the time to attack the job search from all angles:

  • Update your LinkedIn profile – add skills, request recommendations, and give your profile picture and banner a facelift Network – use your fresh LinkedIn profile to connect with industry experts, share your knowledge and engage with companies you’re interested in working with

  • Refresh your CV – update your contact details, add your most recent role and achievements, and keep it under 2 pages long
